Let EEE be any property of natural numbers and let x≥2x \ge 2x≥2 be real. Consider the logarithmically normalized reciprocal sum over positive odd integers n≤xn \le xn≤x satisfying EEE:

1log⁡x∑1≤n≤x, n odd, E(n)1n.\frac{1}{\log x}\sum_{\substack{1 \le n \le x,\ n\ \mathrm{odd},\ E(n)}} \frac{1}{n}.logx11≤n≤x, n odd, E(n)∑n1.

This quantity is at most 333, uniformly in EEE and xxx.

The estimate is the trivial bounded-threshold input for the proof of Theorem 3.1 in Tao's paper: the full reciprocal sum over odd n≤xn \le xn≤x is O(log⁡x)O(\log x)O(logx) by the harmonic bound ∑n≤x1/n≤1+log⁡x\sum_{n \le x} 1/n \le 1 + \log x∑n≤x1/n≤1+logx, so after normalization by log⁡x\log xlogx every exceptional set has uniformly bounded mass. It disposes of bounded thresholds N0N_0N0 in Theorem 3.1, where no decay in N0N_0N0 is needed.

Formalization Note The sum is weightedLogMassReal with domain the positive odd integers, exceptional predicate EEE, and weight 1/n1/n1/n at real cutoff xxx.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
