Here L\mathcal{L}L is the set of logarithms of algebraic numbers, and L~\widetilde{\mathcal{L}}L is the Q‾\overline{\mathbb{Q}}Q-vector space spanned by 111 and L\mathcal{L}L. Roy's strong six exponentials theorem is carried as the hypothesis hSSE: if x1,x2x_1, x_2x1,x2 are Q‾\overline{\mathbb{Q}}Q-linearly independent and so are y1,y2,y3y_1, y_2, y_3y1,y2,y3, then one of the six products xiyjx_iy_jxiyj is not in L~\widetilde{\mathcal{L}}L.

Let λ∈L~∖Q‾\lambda \in \widetilde{\mathcal{L}} \setminus \overline{\mathbb{Q}}λ∈L∖Q.

  1. If (λ,λˉ,λλˉ)(\lambda, \bar\lambda, \lambda\bar\lambda)(λ,λˉ,λλˉ) is linearly independent over Q‾\overline{\mathbb{Q}}Q, then λ/λˉ∉L~\lambda/\bar\lambda \notin \widetilde{\mathcal{L}}λ/λˉ∈/L.
  2. If (λ,λˉ)(\lambda, \bar\lambda)(λ,λˉ) is linearly independent, then λ2/λˉ∉L~\lambda^2/\bar\lambda \notin \widetilde{\mathcal{L}}λ2/λˉ∈/L.
  3. If (λ,λˉ)(\lambda, \bar\lambda)(λ,λˉ) is linearly independent and (1,λ,λˉ)(1, \lambda, \bar\lambda)(1,λ,λˉ) is not, then 1/λ∉L~1/\lambda \notin \widetilde{\mathcal{L}}1/λ∈/L.
  4. For every algebraic α≠0\alpha \neq 0α=0, 1/λ1/\lambda1/λ and 1/(λ+α)1/(\lambda + \alpha)1/(λ+α) are not both in L~\widetilde{\mathcal{L}}L.

At a candidate uuu of Diaz's conjecture, u2/uˉ=u3/∣u∣2u^2/\bar u = u^3/|u|^2u2/uˉ=u3/∣u∣2, so part 2 gives u3∉L~u^3 \notin \widetilde{\mathcal{L}}u3∈/L (DiazModulus.candidate_cube_and_axis_multiple_not_mem_logAlgTilde).

Proof. From DiazModulus.diaz_2007_cor4: parts 1 and 2 are its parts 2 and 3 at (λ,λˉ)(\lambda, \bar\lambda)(λ,λˉ), where the two numbers are conjugate; part 3 writes λˉ=α+βλ\bar\lambda = \alpha + \beta\lambdaλˉ=α+βλ with α,β≠0\alpha, \beta \neq 0α,β=0 and uses λˉ/λ=β+α/λ\bar\lambda/\lambda = \beta + \alpha/\lambdaλˉ/λ=β+α/λ; part 4 is its part 2 at (λ,λ+α)(\lambda, \lambda + \alpha)(λ,λ+α).

Novelty. None: this is Corollaire 5 of Diaz (2007), p. 383, with his proof (pp. 383–384). The contribution of this node is the formal proof.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
