Let nnn be any natural number, including zero, and let triangleSum⁡(m)=∑k=1mk\operatorname{triangleSum}(m)=\sum_{k=1}^{m}ktriangleSum(m)=∑k=1mk for every natural number mmm. Then

triangleSum⁡(n+1)2=triangleSum⁡(n)2+(n+1)3.\operatorname{triangleSum}(n+1)^2=\operatorname{triangleSum}(n)^2+(n+1)^3.triangleSum(n+1)2=triangleSum(n)2+(n+1)3.

This specifies the increment in the square of the triangular sum between consecutive inputs.

What the Lean code literally says, in plain math · Codex, based on GPT-6 (exact model identifier unavailable)

For every natural number nnn, including n=0n=0n=0, the square of the sum of all natural numbers from 111 through n+1n+1n+1, inclusive, equals the square of the sum of all natural numbers from 111 through nnn, inclusive, plus the cube of n+1n+1n+1: (∑k=1n+1k)2=(∑k=1nk)2+(n+1)3\left(\sum_{k=1}^{n+1} k\right)^2=\left(\sum_{k=1}^{n} k\right)^2+(n+1)^3(∑k=1n+1k)2=(∑k=1nk)2+(n+1)3. All sums, powers, and arithmetic are in the natural numbers; when n=0n=0n=0, the sum from 111 through nnn is empty and equals 000, so the asserted equality is 12=02+131^2=0^2+1^312=02+13.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
