Let Q\mathcal QQ be a composite system of finitely many subsystems of dimensions djd_jdj. The set of unitary product operators

T={⨂jUj:Uj∈U(dj)}\mathcal T = \Big\{ \bigotimes_j U_j : U_j \in \mathcal U(d_j) \Big\}T={j⨂Uj:Uj∈U(dj)}

is a subgroup of the unitary group of Q\mathcal QQ, and it is compact.

Being the image of the direct product of the compact groups U(dj)\mathcal U(d_j)U(dj), T\mathcal TT is the compact Lie group in which the logical product unitaries live; its compactness is what makes the set of logically distinct transversal actions finite.

Formalization Note "Compact Lie group" is stated as "compact subgroup" of Matrix.unitaryGroup; the Lie structure is not formalized.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
