APSP in O(n2.996001)O(n^{2.996001})O(n2.996001): definitions, part 2 of 2

apsp-2996001apsp-exponentdefinitions

Definitions for the formal proof that all-pairs shortest paths can be solved deterministically in time O(n2.996001)O(n^{2.996001})O(n2.996001) on a word RAM, part 2 of 2. It imports APSP2996001_Defs1.

This part contains the filtering host: the environment and the memory invariants of a step and of a round (Env, FMem, Inv1, Inv2), the bodies and times of a step, a round, the core and the top procedure (tStep, tRound, tTop), and the time filterTime and need filterNeed of the whole host.

Source modules (in this order): ThreeSumApsp.Filter.HostFinal, ThreeSumApsp.Filter.HostStep, ThreeSumApsp.Filter.HostRound, ThreeSumApsp.Filter.HostCore, ThreeSumApsp.Filter.HostTop, ThreeSumApsp.Filter.HostAssemble, ThreeSumApsp.Filter.HostMain, ThreeSumApsp.Filter.HostTime.

The bundles belong to the formal proof of the deterministic bound O(n2.996001)O(n^{2.996001})O(n2.996001) for APSP (the filtering reduction of the 2.996001 note):

  1. the pruned thin product of the 2.99791 entry at the new parameters c=212733/10000c=212733/10000c=212733/10000, θ=111731/106\theta=111731/10^6θ=111731/106, in the regime D1249≤N71D^{1249}\le N^{71}D1249≤N71, giving #Lop-AE-SparseTri (counting) in time O(n2log⁡2D/D0.0703531+wD0.4296471log⁡D+nD+w)O(n^2\log^2D/D^{0.0703531}+wD^{0.4296471}\log D+nD+w)O(n2log2D/D0.0703531+wD0.4296471logD+nD+w);
  2. the modular counting oracle of Lemma 4.1: for a block size sss and a modulus ppp it computes, for every pair (a,b)(a,b)(a,b) and every block CjC_jCj of sss third vertices, the number of c∈Cjc\in C_jc∈Cj with p∣w(a,b)+w(b,c)+w(a,c)p\mid w(a,b)+w(b,c)+w(a,c)p∣w(a,b)+w(b,c)+w(a,c), by #Lop-AE-SparseTri calls at inner dimension spspsp;
  3. the deterministic filtering host (Lemma 3.1): rounds of prime moduli from a pool of primes in [R,2R)[R,2R)[R,2R) that certify the pairs with an exact triangle and shrink the set of active candidates, followed by a final check, solving All-Edges Exact Triangle, and the chain to APSP.

Formalization Note Each bundle is generated from the library by deleting the theorems that are not needed ("skeleton subtraction"); it keeps definitions, structures and instances, and the few lemmas that the definitions themselves need, with proofs. Tactic macros of the library are expanded at their uses. Everything else is imported from the bundles APSPSource_*, TrulySubcubicAPSP_SourceSpecification and APSP299791_Defs*.

# The filtering host: the last phase

For every group `g` that is not done, the blocks of its active candidates are scanned
(`groupBody`); the flag of `g` is 1 if it is done or a scan finds a zero triangle. The time depends
on the number of active candidates (`final_spec`).

# The filtering host: one round

A round: the masses at the modulus `1`, then `r` steps, each of which certifies some groups and
multiplies the modulus by a prime of the pool, and at the end the marks of the candidates whose
count at the final modulus is `0` are cleared (`round_spec`).

The invariants: a group that is done has a witness (`Inv1`), and every candidate of a group that is
not done whose block has a witness is marked (`Inv2`).

# The filtering host: the rounds and the final scans

`core` runs the rounds and then scans the blocks of the candidates that are still marked, in the
groups that are not done (`core_spec`). The flags it writes are the flags of all-edges Exact
Triangle, whatever the guard; with the guard, no candidate is marked after the rounds, so that the
final scans cost nothing.

# The filtering host: the parameters

The first part of the host computes the parameters of the filtering from `n` and `U` and lays out
the memory above the free pointer (`params_spec`).

# The filtering host solves all-edges Exact Triangle

`filter_host`: from a solver of the counting oracle, the host builds a solver of all-edges Exact
Triangle, within `filterTime To` steps and with the need `filterNeed needo`; its need is
polynomially bounded if that of the oracle is.

# The time of the filtering host

`filterTime_le`: the host calls the oracle `roundsOf n * (rOf n * QOf n + 2)` times, each within
`supTo To n U`; besides, it spends `1000 (n + 1)² (Q + 1) (m + Q + 1)` steps per step of a round and
once for the final pass, `cFin n U * tScan (sOf n)` steps for the final scans (`0` under the guard,
`m n² (24 s + 35)` without it), and `tPrelude n U` steps for the parameters, the sieve, the pool and
the marks.
