Let sss be a positive even integer, a≥0a \ge 0a≥0 and L≥25600L \ge 25600L≥25600. The number of primes p∈(a,a+L]p \in (a, a+L]p∈(a,a+L] with p<sp < sp<s and s−ps - ps−p prime satisfies

#{a<p≤a+L:p, s−p prime}≤8 S2 K(s) Llog⁡2L+L2+2,K(s)=∏p∣s, p>2p−1p−2,\#\{a < p \le a + L : p,\ s-p \text{ prime}\} \le \frac{8\,\mathfrak S_2\,K(s)\,L}{\log^2 L} + \frac{\sqrt L}{2} + 2, \qquad K(s) = \prod_{p \mid s,\ p > 2} \frac{p-1}{p-2},#{a<p≤a+L:p, s−p prime}≤log2L8S2K(s)L+2L+2,K(s)=p∣s, p>2∏p−2p−1,

where S2=2∏p>2(1−(p−1)−2)\mathfrak S_2 = 2\prod_{p>2}(1 - (p-1)^{-2})S2=2∏p>2(1−(p−1)−2) is the twin prime constant (TaoFivePrimes.twinPrimeConstant). This is the short-interval form of Siebert's prime-pair bound in the Goldbach setting, as used by Riesel and Vaughan for the upper bound in their Lemma 9: the sieve level is z=L/4z = \sqrt L/4z=L/4, and the error L/2+2\sqrt L/2 + 2L/2+2 accounts for the primes p≤zp \le zp≤z or s−p≤zs - p \le zs−p≤z that the sieve does not see.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
