Here L\mathcal{L}L is the set of logarithms of algebraic numbers, and L~\widetilde{\mathcal{L}}L is the Q‾\overline{\mathbb{Q}}Q-vector space spanned by 111 and L\mathcal{L}L. Roy's strong six exponentials theorem is carried as the hypothesis hSSE: if x1,x2x_1, x_2x1,x2 are Q‾\overline{\mathbb{Q}}Q-linearly independent and so are y1,y2,y3y_1, y_2, y_3y1,y2,y3, then one of the six products xiyjx_iy_jxiyj is not in L~\widetilde{\mathcal{L}}L.

Let uuu be a candidate for Diaz's conjecture (DiazModulus.IsCandidate), ρ=uuˉ\rho = u\bar uρ=uuˉ, and a1≠a2a_1 \neq a_2a1=a2 non-zero algebraic numbers with a1aˉ1=a2aˉ2=ρ2a_1\bar a_1 = a_2\bar a_2 = \rho^2a1aˉ1=a2aˉ2=ρ2. Then u/(u2−a1)+u/(u2−a2)∉L~u/(u^2 - a_1) + u/(u^2 - a_2) \notin \widetilde{\mathcal{L}}u/(u2−a1)+u/(u2−a2)∈/L. Here a hypothesis z∈L~z \in \widetilde{\mathcal{L}}z∈L on the sum brings zˉ\bar zzˉ, and the two together give both terms. It concerns candidates, so it is vacuous if Diaz's conjecture holds.

Proof. Since ρ2/aˉi=ai\rho^2/\bar a_i = a_iρ2/aˉi=ai, conjugation acts on each ziz_izi by a scalar: zˉi=kizi\bar z_i = k_iz_izˉi=kizi with ki=−ρ/aˉik_i = -\rho/\bar a_iki=−ρ/aˉi, and k1≠k2k_1 \neq k_2k1=k2. If z=z1+z2∈L~z = z_1 + z_2 \in \widetilde{\mathcal{L}}z=z1+z2∈L, then zˉ=k1z1+k2z2∈L~\bar z = k_1z_1 + k_2z_2 \in \widetilde{\mathcal{L}}zˉ=k1z1+k2z2∈L (DiazModulus.logAlgTilde_conj_stable), so z1=(zˉ−k2z)/(k1−k2)z_1 = (\bar z - k_2z)/(k_1 - k_2)z1=(zˉ−k2z)/(k1−k2) and z2z_2z2 are in L~\widetilde{\mathcal{L}}L, against DiazModulus.candidate_two_pole_not_both_mem_logAlgTilde.

Novelty. Not asserted: one line from DiazModulus.candidate_two_pole_not_both_mem_logAlgTilde, itself a substitution in Diaz (2007, Th. 7(2)).

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
