This statement is the componentwise extension of the Taylor bound to tensor fields.

Let VVV be a finite-dimensional real inner-product space, let ν\nuν be a probability measure on VVV, and let R∈RR\in\mathbb RR∈R and d∈Nd\in\mathbb Nd∈N. Assume that for every scalar g∈L2(ν)g\in L^2(\nu)g∈L2(ν),

∥Tdg∥≤Rd∥g∥,\|T_d g\|\le R^d\|g\|,∥Tdg∥≤Rd∥g∥,

where the tensor norm is the Hilbert–Schmidt norm in the standard orthonormal basis. For any rank-kkk tensor field uuu represented by Field ν k, the corresponding taylorField satisfies

∥Tdu∥2≤R2d normSq⁡(u).\|T_d u\|^2\le R^{2d}\,\operatorname{normSq}(u).∥Tdu∥2≤R2dnormSq(u).

The result packages a scalar Taylor estimate into the squared norm estimate needed for sums over tensor components. It is reusable whenever a tensor field is handled componentwise.

Formalization Note. normSq is the squared Euclidean norm of the field, and all norms in the conclusion are ordinary real norms.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
