A tree witness θ:N×Z→{0,1}\theta:\mathbb N\times\mathbb Z\to\{0,1\}θ:N×Z→{0,1} defines a strict total order ≺θ\prec_\theta≺θ on Z\mathbb ZZ (milestone framework). A finite word WWW of integers is SAFE for θ\thetaθ if the sequence "letters of WWW in order, then all remaining integers in ≺θ\prec_\theta≺θ-order" has no monotone 4-term arithmetic progression. Theorem (exceptional case of the four-class absorption theorem). Let rrr be odd, let AAA be a list of integers all ≡r(mod8)\equiv r \pmod 8≡r(mod8), let aaa be even and b≡r+2(mod4)b\equiv r+2\pmod 4b≡r+2(mod4), and put Q=(a)⋅A⋅(b)Q=(a)\cdot A\cdot(b)Q=(a)⋅A⋅(b). Let y∉Qy\notin Qy∈/Q and c=2y−b∉Qc=2y-b\notin Qc=2y−b∈/Q with c≡r(mod8)c\equiv r\pmod 8c≡r(mod8), and assume both A⋅(c)A\cdot(c)A⋅(c) and (c)⋅A(c)\cdot A(c)⋅A are SAFE (for some witnesses). Suppose 7b−6y∈A7b-6y\in A7b−6y∈A but 10y−9b∉A10y-9b\notin A10y−9b∈/A. Put w=6y−5bw=6y-5bw=6y−5b and t=4y−3bt=4y-3bt=4y−3b. Then there is a duplicate-free list LLL whose entries are exactly the elements of {12y−11b}∪(10y−10b+A)\{12y-11b\}\cup(10y-10b+A){12y−11b}∪(10y−10b+A) other than ttt, such that

Q⋅(c)⋅(2y−A)⋅(y)⋅L⋅(w,t)Q\cdot(c)\cdot(2y-A)\cdot(y)\cdot L\cdot(w,t)Q⋅(c)⋅(2y−A)⋅(y)⋅L⋅(w,t)

is SAFE for some tree witness.

This is the exceptional case (7b−6y∈A7b-6y\in A7b−6y∈A) of GPT 6 Astra's four-class restricted absorption theorem. The non-exceptional case is milestone #122. Together they cover Astra's full critical exclusion {7b−6y, 10y−9b}⊈A\{7b-6y,\,10y-9b\}\not\subseteq A{7b−6y,10y−9b}⊆A. When 7b−6y∈A7b-6y\in A7b−6y∈A, the closed-form batch fails because t=2c−bt=2c-bt=2c−b lies in the reflection block. The fix: order the reflection set safely with ttt last (specified-last-entry ordering, milestone #133) and put www before ttt. The proof uses the two-child decomposition at the root (the even letters are a,ya,ya,y; odd-to-yyy pairs close by reflection about yyy) and at level 1 of the odd class. In the odd class, every cross 3-AP gets its fourth term in time; the only new case is (b,c,t)(b,c,t)(b,c,t), whose fourth term www now comes before ttt, and (8y−7b,w,t)(8y-7b,w,t)(8y−7b,w,t), whose fourth term ccc is old. The hypothesis 10y−9b∉A10y-9b\notin A10y−9b∈/A rules out the cross triple (10y−9b, 8y−7b, w)(10y-9b,\,8y-7b,\,w)(10y−9b,8y−7b,w), whose fourth term would be the delayed ttt.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
