Let m≥1m\ge1m≥1 be an integer and α∈C\alpha\in\mathbb Cα∈C with α≠αˉ\alpha\ne\bar\alphaα=αˉ. Let Pα(X,Y)=Xm(α+XY)+Ym(αˉ+XY)∈C[X,Y]P_\alpha(X,Y)=X^m(\alpha+XY)+Y^m(\bar\alpha+XY)\in\mathbb C[X,Y]Pα(X,Y)=Xm(α+XY)+Ym(αˉ+XY)∈C[X,Y] be the polynomial of equation (6) of the note, the complexification of 2Re⁡(zm(∣z∣2+α))2\operatorname{Re}\bigl(z^m(|z|^2+\alpha)\bigr)2Re(zm(∣z∣2+α)) in the coordinates X=zX=zX=z, Y=zˉY=\bar zY=zˉ, and let Km,α=Frac⁡(C[X,Y]/(Pα))K_{m,\alpha}=\operatorname{Frac}\bigl(\mathbb C[X,Y]/(P_\alpha)\bigr)Km,α=Frac(C[X,Y]/(Pα)) be the function field of the curve Pα=0P_\alpha=0Pα=0.

For a field L⊇CL\supseteq\mathbb CL⊇C, a place of LLL is a valuation ring O\mathcal OO of LLL with C⊆O≠L\mathbb C\subseteq\mathcal O\ne LC⊆O=L. A Kähler differential ω∈ΩL/C\omega\in\Omega_{L/\mathbb C}ω∈ΩL/C is regular at O\mathcal OO if it is a C\mathbb CC-linear combination of differentials u dvu\,dvudv with u,v∈Ou,v\in\mathcal Ou,v∈O, and holomorphic if it is regular at every place. The genus g(L)g(L)g(L) is the dimension over C\mathbb CC of the space of holomorphic differentials of LLL.

Then

g(Km,α)=m.g(K_{m,\alpha})=m.g(Km,α)=m.

This is the genus clause of Lemma 4 of the note, with the normalization of VαV_\alphaVα (the closure of Pα=0P_\alpha=0Pα=0 in P1×P1\mathbb P^1\times\mathbb P^1P1×P1) read as its function field Km,αK_{m,\alpha}Km,α. The formal statement assumes only m≥1m\ge1m≥1 and α∉R\alpha\notin\mathbb Rα∈/R, whereas Lemma 4 takes m≥2m\ge2m≥2 and ∣α∣=1|\alpha|=1∣α∣=1; its case m=2m=2m=2 gives the genus two in Remark 5.

Formalization Note: m>0m>0m>0 and α≠αˉ\alpha\ne\bar\alphaα=αˉ are Fact instance arguments; they make C[X,Y]/(Pα)\mathbb C[X,Y]/(P_\alpha)C[X,Y]/(Pα) a domain, so that its fraction field is a field.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
