Proposition 3.18 (p.93). If fff is convex extensible, then arg⁡min⁡f[−p]\arg\min f[-p]argminf[−p] is hole free for every p∈Rnp \in \mathbb R^np∈Rn. The converse also holds if dom⁡Zf\operatorname{dom}_{\mathbb Z} fdomZf is bounded.

Formalization Note. Boundedness of dom⁡Zf\operatorname{dom}_{\mathbb Z} fdomZf is represented as the existence of a single real bound RRR on every coordinate of every point of the domain, the natural reading of "bounded" for a subset of Zn\mathbb Z^nZn.

/-- Proposition 3.18 (Murota, *Discrete Convex Analysis*, SIAM 2003, p.93). If `f` is convex
extensible, then `arg min f[-p]` is hole free for every `p ∈ Rⁿ`. The converse also holds if
`dom_Z f` is bounded (represented here as a common real bound on the coordinates of every
point of the domain). -/

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
