Let uuu and vvv be finite real vectors of the same length with u≥mvu\ge^m vu≥mv. Every common affine transformation, with any real slope ccc and intercept ddd, preserves their majorization order:

u≥mv⟹(cuj+d)j≥m(cvj+d)j.u\ge^m v\quad\Longrightarrow\quad (cu_j+d)_j\ge^m(cv_j+d)_j.u≥mv⟹(cuj+d)j≥m(cvj+d)j.

This is the order property cited in the paper's proof of Proposition 2 and used when Cournot output is affine in the farmer ratio.

Formalization Note The slope may be negative or zero, as allowed by the paper's unrestricted planting subsidy.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
