Fix N≥2N\geq2N≥2, γ>0\gamma>0γ>0, σg2>0\sigma_g^2>0σg2>0, ψ2≥0\psi^2\geq0ψ2≥0, a GMV mean μg\mu_gμg, and a robustness weight λ≥0\lambda\geq0λ≥0. For every T>N+7T>N+7T>N+7, let VT(κ)V_T(\kappa)VT(κ) and ET(κ)E_T(\kappa)ET(κ) be the closed-form OOSU variance and mean, and maximize

RT(κ)=ET(κ)−λVT(κ)R_T(\kappa)=E_T(\kappa)-\lambda\sqrt{V_T(\kappa)}RT(κ)=ET(κ)−λVT(κ)

over κ∈[0,1]\kappa\in[0,1]κ∈[0,1]. Both this maximum and the minimum of VTV_TVT on [0,1][0,1][0,1] are attained. Every robust maximizer κR\kappa_RκR and every variance minimizer κV\kappa_VκV satisfy

κV≤κR≤κE(T),\kappa_V\leq\kappa_R\leq\kappa_E(T),κV≤κR≤κE(T),

where κE(T)\kappa_E(T)κE(T) is the mean-maximizing intensity (IA3). If ψ2>0\psi^2>0ψ2>0, then every sequence choosing a robust maximizer for each T>N+7T>N+7T>N+7 tends to 111 as T→∞T\to\inftyT→∞.

The ordering locates the robust portfolio between the least-risk and greatest-mean shrinkage choices.

Formalization Note The additional ψ2>0\psi^2>0ψ2>0 condition is necessary only for the limit; at ψ2=0\psi^2=0ψ2=0 the claimed limit fails. The consistency of the underlying random portfolio estimator is not posed in this closed-form setting. The OOSU mean and variance are formulas from Proposition IA.1 and Proposition 1, and their identification as moments requires those separate probabilistic results.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
