Let φ∈Cd\varphi \in \mathbb C^dφ∈Cd be a state, ∥φ∥2=1\|\varphi\|_2 = 1∥φ∥2=1. Then for all vectors ψ,ψ′∈Cd\psi, \psi' \in \mathbb C^dψ,ψ′∈Cd,

∣⟨φ∣ψ⟩−⟨φ∣ψ′⟩∣≤∥ψ−ψ′∥2.\bigl|\langle\varphi|\psi\rangle - \langle\varphi|\psi'\rangle\bigr| \le \|\psi - \psi'\|_2 .⟨φ∣ψ⟩−⟨φ∣ψ′⟩≤∥ψ−ψ′∥2.

That is, the overlap ψ↦⟨φ∣ψ⟩\psi \mapsto \langle \varphi|\psi\rangleψ↦⟨φ∣ψ⟩ is Lipschitz with coefficient η=1\eta = 1η=1.

This is the Lipschitz estimate that feeds Levy's lemma in (34).

Formalization Note The inequality is stated for all vectors ψ,ψ′\psi,\psi'ψ,ψ′, not only unit vectors; the paper uses it on the unit sphere, so this is a (harmless) generalisation.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
