Theorem. Let k≥1k\ge1k≥1, ∣U∣=2k|U|=2^k∣U∣=2k and h:U→F2k−1h:U\to\mathbb F_2^{k-1}h:U→F2k−1. Every kkk-set Y⊆UY\subseteq UY⊆U contains a nonempty AAA with ∑a∈Ah(a)=0\sum_{a\in A}h(a)=0∑a∈Ah(a)=0.

In the context of Erdős Problem 624 this says that each family Fh\mathcal F_hFh of nonempty zero-sum sets of size ≤k\le k≤k meets every kkk-set (it is a covering family); together with zero_sum_count it gives a feasible fractional packing at capacity two, an obstruction to proving the two-map common-hole lemma by separately convexified fibre conditions.

Formalization Note. U=Fin (2k)U=\mathrm{Fin}\,(2^k)U=Fin(2k), F2k−1\mathbb F_2^{k-1}F2k−1 is Fin (k-1) → ZMod 2.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
