Let m≥2m\ge2m≥2 be an integer and let α∈C\alpha\in\mathbb Cα∈C with ∣α∣=1|\alpha|=1∣α∣=1 and α∉R\alpha\notin\mathbb Rα∈/R. Let Cm,α={z∈C:Re⁡(zm(∣z∣2+α))=0}C_{m,\alpha}=\{z\in\mathbb C:\operatorname{Re}(z^m(|z|^2+\alpha))=0\}Cm,α={z∈C:Re(zm(∣z∣2+α))=0} and let C^m,α\widehat C_{m,\alpha}Cm,α be its closure in the Riemann sphere C^=C∪{∞}\widehat{\mathbb C}=\mathbb C\cup\{\infty\}C=C∪{∞}. A matrix g=(gjk)∈GL2(C)g=(g_{jk})\in\mathrm{GL}_2(\mathbb C)g=(gjk)∈GL2(C) acts on C^\widehat{\mathbb C}C by the Möbius transformation g⋅z=g11z+g12g21z+g22g\cdot z=\dfrac{g_{11}z+g_{12}}{g_{21}z+g_{22}}g⋅z=g21z+g22g11z+g12, with the usual conventions at the pole and at ∞\infty∞. Let κ ⁣:C^→C^\kappa\colon\widehat{\mathbb C}\to\widehat{\mathbb C}κ:C→C be complex conjugation, κ(z)=zˉ\kappa(z)=\bar zκ(z)=zˉ, κ(∞)=∞\kappa(\infty)=\inftyκ(∞)=∞, so that g∘κ ⁣:p↦g⋅κ(p)g\circ\kappa\colon p\mapsto g\cdot\kappa(p)g∘κ:p↦g⋅κ(p) is an anti-Möbius map.

Then for every g∈GL2(C)g\in\mathrm{GL}_2(\mathbb C)g∈GL2(C) the anti-Möbius map g∘κg\circ\kappag∘κ does not carry C^m,α\widehat C_{m,\alpha}Cm,α into itself:

(g∘κ)(C^m,α)⊈C^m,α.(g\circ\kappa)(\widehat C_{m,\alpha})\nsubseteq\widehat C_{m,\alpha}.(g∘κ)(Cm,α)⊈Cm,α.

This is the assertion of Theorem 2 that C^m,α\widehat C_{m,\alpha}Cm,α has no anti-Möbius symmetry, in one-sided form: no anti-Möbius map even carries the curve into itself. In the formalization it is also used to exclude self-maps of Cm,αC_{m,\alpha}Cm,α of the form z↦azˉ+bz\mapsto a\bar z+bz↦azˉ+b with a≠0a\ne0a=0; it supports Theorems 1 and 2.

Formalization Note: the Riemann sphere is the one-point compactification OnePoint ℂ and the curves are topological closures in it; matrices act through Mathlib's identification of the sphere with the projective line, and conjugation acts on the sphere fixing ∞\infty∞.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
