Fixed-point synthetic FFT error bound (Lemma 3.2)

Proved
IntMul.HvdH.synGa_approx

by xuanji · Oct 12, 2026 · Mathlib 0df444a (Lean v4.33.1)

integer-multiplication

Let R=C[y]/(yr+1)R=\mathbb C[y]/(y^r+1)R=C[y]/(yr+1) and t=2et=2^et=2e. Let Gt:Rt→Rt\mathcal G_t:R^t\to R^tGt:Rt→Rt be the normalised synthetic DFT u↦1tu^u\mapsto\tfrac1t\hat uu↦t1u^, computed by the radix-2 recursion synG (IntMul_HvdH_SynFFT). Let G~t\tilde{\mathcal G}_tG~t be its fixed-point version synGa at precision ppp, which rounds each halving towards zero. Then G~t\tilde{\mathcal G}_tG~t maps the unit polydisc into itself and

ε(G~t)≤log⁡2t=e.\varepsilon(\tilde{\mathcal G}_t)\le\log_2 t=e.ε(G~t)≤log2t=e.

This is the error part of Lemma 3.2 of Harvey–van der Hoeven, in the sense of FPApprox (IntMul_HvdH_FPApprox).

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
