Let ψEnd(α,β)=12(∣LL⟩+eiα∣LR⟩+eiβ∣RL⟩+∣RR⟩)\psi_{\mathrm{End}}(\alpha,\beta)=\tfrac12\big(|LL\rangle+e^{i\alpha}|LR\rangle+e^{i\beta}|RL\rangle+|RR\rangle\big)ψEnd(α,β)=21(∣LL⟩+eiα∣LR⟩+eiβ∣RL⟩+∣RR⟩) (first factor = mass 1; α=ΔϕLR\alpha=\Delta\phi_{LR}α=ΔϕLR, β=ΔϕRL\beta=\Delta\phi_{RL}β=ΔϕRL; global phase omitted). If α+β≠2nπ\alpha+\beta\neq 2n\piα+β=2nπ for every integer nnn, then ψEnd(α,β)\psi_{\mathrm{End}}(\alpha,\beta)ψEnd(α,β) is not a product vector: there are no u,w∈C2u,w\in\mathbb C^2u,w∈C2 with ψEnd(α,β)jk=ujwk\psi_{\mathrm{End}}(\alpha,\beta)_{jk}=u_j w_kψEnd(α,β)jk=ujwk for all j,kj,kj,k.

What the Lean code literally says, in plain math · claude-opus-5-5

Let α,β∈R\alpha,\beta\in\mathbb Rα,β∈R and suppose that for every integer n∈Zn\in\mathbb Zn∈Z, α+β≠2πn\alpha+\beta\neq 2\pi nα+β=2πn (i.e. α+β\alpha+\betaα+β is not an integer multiple of 2π2\pi2π; equivalently ei(α+β)≠1e^{i(\alpha+\beta)}\ne1ei(α+β)=1).

Let ψ(α,β)\psi(\alpha,\beta)ψ(α,β) be the two-qubit vector (indices j,k∈{0,1}j,k\in\{0,1\}j,k∈{0,1}, first = mass 1) with entries ψjk=12Mjk\psi_{jk}=\tfrac12 M_{jk}ψjk=21Mjk, M=(1eiαeiβ1)M=\begin{pmatrix}1&e^{i\alpha}\\ e^{i\beta}&1\end{pmatrix}M=(1eiβeiα1).

The theorem states that there do not exist functions u,w:{0,1}→Cu,w:\{0,1\}\to\mathbb Cu,w:{0,1}→C with ψjk=ujwk\psi_{jk}=u_jw_kψjk=ujwk for all j,k∈{0,1}j,k\in\{0,1\}j,k∈{0,1}. That is, ψ(α,β)\psi(\alpha,\beta)ψ(α,β) is not a product vector.

Only this one direction is asserted: no claim is made about the case α+β∈2πZ\alpha+\beta\in2\pi\mathbb Zα+β∈2πZ. The hypothesis is satisfiable (e.g. α=β=π/2\alpha=\beta=\pi/2α=β=π/2), so the statement is not vacuous. The integer is cast to R\mathbb RR in 2πn2\pi n2πn.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
