This is a finite-set invariance lemma.

Let A,Q⊆ΩA,Q\subseteq\OmegaA,Q⊆Ω be finite subsets with A⊆QA\subseteq QA⊆Q. If a permutation σ\sigmaσ fixes every point outside QQQ, then the image σ(A)\sigma(A)σ(A) is a subset of QQQ with the same cardinality as AAA:

σ(A)∈{F⊆Q:∣F∣=∣A∣}.\sigma(A)\in\{F\subseteq Q:|F|=|A|\}.σ(A)∈{F⊆Q:∣F∣=∣A∣}.

This identifies the possible images of AAA when permutation sums are restricted to permutations supported in QQQ.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
