Let γ>0\gamma>0γ>0, ϕ0≥0\phi_0\ge0ϕ0≥0, ϕˉi=3iϕ0\bar\phi_i=3^i\phi_0ϕˉi=3iϕ0 and βi=184π3γi2\beta_i=\frac{18}{4\pi^3}\frac{\gamma}{i^2}βi=4π318i2γ. Define the surrogate error by

e~0=0,e~i+1=4βi+1ϕˉi+3e~i.\tilde e_0=0,\qquad \tilde e_{i+1}=4\beta_{i+1}\bar\phi_i+3\tilde e_i .e~0=0,e~i+1=4βi+1ϕˉi+3e~i.

If ttt is a non-negative integer with ϕˉt≤π\bar\phi_t\le\piϕˉt≤π, then for every i≤ti\le ti≤t

e~i≤γ ϕˉiπ≤γ.\tilde e_i\le\frac{\gamma\,\bar\phi_i}{\pi}\le\gamma .e~i≤πγϕˉi≤γ.

The precisions βi\beta_iβi are summable, ∑iβi<3γ/(4π)\sum_i\beta_i<3\gamma/(4\pi)∑iβi<3γ/(4π), so the errors injected at successive levels stay below γ\gammaγ although every level triples the error already present. In the proof of Lemma 1 the bound is applied with ϕ0=sin⁡−1pM\phi_0=\sin^{-1}\sqrt{p_M}ϕ0=sin−1pM and ttt the number of levels.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
