Let v1,…,vnv_1,\dots,v_nv1,…,vn be XOS valuations on the items M={1,…,m}M=\{1,\dots,m\}M={1,…,m} given by XOS expressions, and let the greedy price-update algorithm of §3.3 run with any demand oracle and any XOS oracle for this profile, with final prices pnp^npn. Then for every allocation O1,…,OnO_1,\dots,O_nO1,…,On (pairwise disjoint bundles),

∑i=1nvi(Oi)≤2 pn(M),pn(M)=∑j∈Mpjn.\sum_{i=1}^n v_i(O_i)\le 2\,p^n(M),\qquad p^n(M)=\sum_{j\in M}p^n_j .i=1∑nvi(Oi)≤2pn(M),pn(M)=j∈M∑pjn.

The paper states it for the optimal allocation; holding for every allocation is equivalent and needs no optimal allocation to be named. Combined with Lemma 3.4 it yields Theorem 3.3.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
