integer-multiplication

Computable approximation of the map E=N−I\mathcal E=\mathcal N-IE=N−I from §4.2 of Harvey–van der Hoeven, where

(Eu)ℓ=∑h≠0e−πα2((th/s+βℓ)2−βℓ+h2) u(ℓ+h) mod s.(\mathcal Eu)_\ell=\sum_{h\ne0}e^{-\pi\alpha^2\left((th/s+\beta_\ell)^2-\beta_{\ell+h}^2\right)}\,u_{(\ell+h)\bmod s}.(Eu)ℓ=h=0∑e−πα2((th/s+βℓ)2−βℓ+h2)u(ℓ+h)mods.

Here βℓ=tℓ/s−round(tℓ/s)\beta_\ell=t\ell/s-\mathrm{round}(t\ell/s)βℓ=tℓ/s−round(tℓ/s).

  • bOf s t ℓ =bℓ=sβℓ=tℓ−s⌊(2tℓ+s)/(2s)⌋=b_\ell=s\beta_\ell=t\ell-s\lfloor(2t\ell+s)/(2s)\rfloor=bℓ=sβℓ=tℓ−s⌊(2tℓ+s)/(2s)⌋.
  • eKz s t ℓ h =Kℓ,h=(th+bℓ)2−bℓ+h2=K_{\ell,h}=(th+b_\ell)^2-b_{\ell+h}^2=Kℓ,h=(th+bℓ)2−bℓ+h2, so the (ℓ,ℓ+h)(\ell,\ell+h)(ℓ,ℓ+h) entry of E\mathcal EE is e−πα2Kℓ,h/s2e^{-\pi\alpha^2K_{\ell,h}/s^2}e−πα2Kℓ,h/s2.
  • eWidth p α =m=⌈⌈p⌉/α⌉+1=m=\lceil\lceil\sqrt p\rceil/\alpha\rceil+1=m=⌈⌈p⌉/α⌉+1 is the truncation half-width.
  • eTerm p s t α ℓ U h is the rounded product ⌊x~hU(ℓ+h) mod s/2p⌉0\lfloor\tilde x_hU_{(\ell+h)\bmod s}/2^p\rceil_0⌊x~hU(ℓ+h)mods/2p⌉0. Here x~h\tilde x_hx~h = expNeg p (s²) (α² K) approximates 2pe−πα2Kℓ,h/s22^pe^{-\pi\alpha^2K_{\ell,h}/s^2}2pe−πα2Kℓ,h/s2. The term is 000 for h=0h=0h=0.
  • Eapprox p s t α U ℓ sums eTerm over ∣h∣≤m|h|\le m∣h∣≤m.
  • Eexact s t α u ℓ is the exact value (Eu)ℓ(\mathcal Eu)_\ell(Eu)ℓ.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
