Let d≥0d\ge0d≥0 be an integer and let F:C2×C2→CF:\mathbb C^2\times\mathbb C^2\to\mathbb CF:C2×C2→C be any function that is bihomogeneous of bidegree (d,d)(d,d)(d,d) in the sense that F(ax,by)=ad bd F(x,y)F(ax,by)=a^d\,b^d\,F(x,y)F(ax,by)=adbdF(x,y) for all a,b∈Ca,b\in\mathbb Ca,b∈C and all x,y∈C2x,y\in\mathbb C^2x,y∈C2; no continuity is assumed. Let χ:C2→C2×C2\chi:\mathbb C^2\to\mathbb C^2\times\mathbb C^2χ:C2→C2×C2 be the standard chart χ(v0,v1)=((v0,1),(v1,1))\chi(v_0,v_1)=\bigl((v_0,1),(v_1,1)\bigr)χ(v0,v1)=((v0,1),(v1,1)) and let f=F∘χf=F\circ\chif=F∘χ, so that f(v0,v1)=F((v0,1),(v1,1))f(v_0,v_1)=F\bigl((v_0,1),(v_1,1)\bigr)f(v0,v1)=F((v0,1),(v1,1)) is the dehomogenization of FFF. Call www a critical zero of a complex-valued function HHH on C2\mathbb C^2C2 or on C2×C2\mathbb C^2\times\mathbb C^2C2×C2 if H(w)=0H(w)=0H(w)=0 and HHH is complex differentiable at www with zero differential.

Then for every v∈C2v\in\mathbb C^2v∈C2

χ(v) is a critical zero of F  ⟺  v is a critical zero of f.\chi(v)\ \text{is a critical zero of}\ F\iff v\ \text{is a critical zero of}\ f.χ(v) is a critical zero of F⟺v is a critical zero of f.

This connects the homogeneous Jacobian condition on P1×P1\mathbb P^1\times\mathbb P^1P1×P1 with the Jacobian criterion for a dehomogenized equation. Combined with linear changes of coordinates, the formalization applies it in the four standard charts of P1×P1\mathbb P^1\times\mathbb P^1P1×P1, where the proof of Lemma 4 clears denominators and locates the singular points of VαV_\alphaVα.

Formalization Note: complex differentiability at www with zero differential is HasFDerivAt H 0 w over C\mathbb CC; no differentiability of FFF away from the point is assumed.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
