Let h∈C[t]h\in\mathbb C[t]h∈C[t] be such that W2−h(t)W^2-h(t)W2−h(t) is irreducible in C(t)[W]\mathbb C(t)[W]C(t)[W], and let Lh=C(t)[W]/(W2−h(t))L_h=\mathbb C(t)[W]/(W^2-h(t))Lh=C(t)[W]/(W2−h(t)), a quadratic field extension of C(t)\mathbb C(t)C(t). Let ΩLh/C\Omega_{L_h/\mathbb C}ΩLh/C be the LhL_hLh-module of Kähler differentials of LhL_hLh over C\mathbb CC, with universal derivation ddd. Then

ΩLh/C=Lh dt,\Omega_{L_h/\mathbb C}=L_h\,dt,ΩLh/C=Lhdt,

that is, the single differential dtdtdt spans ΩLh/C\Omega_{L_h/\mathbb C}ΩLh/C over LhL_hLh.

Every differential of the double cover is therefore a multiple of dtdtdt. In the formalization the genus in Lemma 4 is obtained from an explicit basis ti dt/wt^i\,dt/wtidt/w, 0≤i<m0\le i<m0≤i<m, of the holomorphic differentials of the double cover (7), and this statement is where that computation starts; it also serves Remark 5.

Formalization Note: the irreducibility of W2−h(t)W^2-h(t)W2−h(t) is a Fact instance; hhh is not assumed squarefree.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
