This is an auxiliary local inverse-resolvent statement for convex subgradients.

Let EEE be a real inner-product space, let f:E→Rf:E\to\mathbb Rf:E→R and P:E→EP:E\to EP:E→E, and assume

f(Pz)+⟨z−Pz,y−Pz⟩≤f(y)(z,y∈E).f(Pz)+\langle z-Pz,y-Pz\rangle\le f(y)\qquad(z,y\in E).f(Pz)+⟨z−Pz,y−Pz⟩≤f(y)(z,y∈E).

Fix z∈Ez\in Ez∈E and let T:E→ET:E\to ET:E→E be a continuous linear equivalence such that PPP is Fréchet differentiable at zzz with derivative TTT. Then:

  1. The only subgradient of fff at PzPzPz is z−Pzz-Pzz−Pz.
  2. For every ε>0\varepsilon>0ε>0, for all yyy sufficiently near PzPzPz, every subgradient qqq of fff at yyy satisfies
∥q−(z−Pz)−(T−1(y−Pz)−(y−Pz))∥≤ε∥y−Pz∥.\left\|q-(z-Pz)-\left(T^{-1}(y-Pz)-(y-Pz)\right)\right\|\le \varepsilon\|y-Pz\|.q−(z−Pz)−(T−1(y−Pz)−(y−Pz))≤ε∥y−Pz∥.

The declaration subgradient_expansion_of_hasFDerivAt_resolvent_readable is a local quantitative description of the subdifferential near the image point of an invertibly differentiable resolvent.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
