Let m≥1m\ge1m≥1 be an integer and α∈C\alpha\in\mathbb Cα∈C with α≠αˉ\alpha\ne\bar\alphaα=αˉ. Put hα(t)=−t(tm+1)(αtm+αˉ)∈C[t]h_\alpha(t)=-t(t^m+1)(\alpha t^m+\bar\alpha)\in\mathbb C[t]hα(t)=−t(tm+1)(αtm+αˉ)∈C[t] and let Kα=C(t)[W]/(W2−hα(t))K_\alpha=\mathbb C(t)[W]/(W^2-h_\alpha(t))Kα=C(t)[W]/(W2−hα(t)), with www the class of WWW, so that w2=hα(t)w^2=h_\alpha(t)w2=hα(t); this is the function field of the double cover of the ttt-line in equation (7) of the note, written with w=t(tm+1)Yw=t(t^m+1)Yw=t(tm+1)Y. Let ΩKα/C\Omega_{K_\alpha/\mathbb C}ΩKα/C be its module of Kähler differentials, with universal derivation ddd.

For the conjugate parameter, KαˉK_{\bar\alpha}Kαˉ is built in the same way, with coordinate sss and root w′w'w′, where w′2=hαˉ(s)=−s(sm+1)(αˉsm+α)w'^2=h_{\bar\alpha}(s)=-s(s^m+1)(\bar\alpha s^m+\alpha)w′2=hαˉ(s)=−s(sm+1)(αˉsm+α). Since hαˉ(0)=0h_{\bar\alpha}(0)=0hαˉ(0)=0, the point (0,0)(0,0)(0,0) lies on the curve w′2=hαˉ(s)w'^2=h_{\bar\alpha}(s)w′2=hαˉ(s); its local ring O(0,0)′⊂Kαˉ\mathcal O'_{(0,0)}\subset K_{\bar\alpha}O(0,0)′⊂Kαˉ, the localization of C[s][W′]/(W′2−hαˉ)\mathbb C[s][W']/(W'^2-h_{\bar\alpha})C[s][W′]/(W′2−hαˉ) at the maximal ideal of (0,0)(0,0)(0,0), is a valuation ring of KαˉK_{\bar\alpha}Kαˉ. Let Φ ⁣:Kα→Kαˉ\Phi\colon K_\alpha\to K_{\bar\alpha}Φ:Kα→Kαˉ be the ring isomorphism with Φ(t)=1/s\Phi(t)=1/sΦ(t)=1/s and Φ(w)=w′ s−(m+1)\Phi(w)=w'\,s^{-(m+1)}Φ(w)=w′s−(m+1) (the chart at t=∞t=\inftyt=∞); it is C\mathbb CC-linear. Let Φ∗ ⁣:ΩKα/C→ΩKαˉ/C\Phi_\ast\colon\Omega_{K_\alpha/\mathbb C}\to\Omega_{K_{\bar\alpha}/\mathbb C}Φ∗:ΩKα/C→ΩKαˉ/C be the induced map on differentials, Φ∗(g dk)=Φ(g) dΦ(k)\Phi_\ast(g\,dk)=\Phi(g)\,d\Phi(k)Φ∗(gdk)=Φ(g)dΦ(k), and let O∞={ξ∈Kα: Φ(ξ)∈O(0,0)′}\mathcal O_\infty=\{\xi\in K_\alpha:\ \Phi(\xi)\in\mathcal O'_{(0,0)}\}O∞={ξ∈Kα: Φ(ξ)∈O(0,0)′} be the place of KαK_\alphaKα over t=∞t=\inftyt=∞.

For a valuation ring O\mathcal OO of KαK_\alphaKα (a subring with ξ∈O\xi\in\mathcal Oξ∈O or ξ−1∈O\xi^{-1}\in\mathcal Oξ−1∈O for every nonzero ξ∈Kα\xi\in K_\alphaξ∈Kα), write Reg⁡(O)\operatorname{Reg}(\mathcal O)Reg(O) for the space of C\mathbb CC-linear combinations of differentials a dba\,dbadb with a,b∈Oa,b\in\mathcal Oa,b∈O; O∞\mathcal O_\inftyO∞ is such a ring. A differential η∈ΩKαˉ/C\eta\in\Omega_{K_{\bar\alpha}/\mathbb C}η∈ΩKαˉ/C is regular at (0,0)(0,0)(0,0) if f∈O(0,0)′f\in\mathcal O'_{(0,0)}f∈O(0,0)′ whenever u∈O(0,0)′u\in\mathcal O'_{(0,0)}u∈O(0,0)′ generates the maximal ideal of O(0,0)′\mathcal O'_{(0,0)}O(0,0)′ and η=f du\eta=f\,duη=fdu with f∈Kαˉf\in K_{\bar\alpha}f∈Kαˉ.

Then, for every ω∈ΩKα/C\omega\in\Omega_{K_\alpha/\mathbb C}ω∈ΩKα/C,

ω∈Reg⁡(O∞)  ⟺  Φ∗ω is regular at (0,0).\omega\in\operatorname{Reg}(\mathcal O_\infty)\iff\Phi_\ast\omega\ \text{is regular at }(0,0).ω∈Reg(O∞)⟺Φ∗ω is regular at (0,0).

The right-hand side is the explicit definition of regularity at infinity used for the holomorphic differentials of the family's double cover. Together with the corresponding statement at the finite points, it identifies the intrinsically defined holomorphic differentials of KαK_\alphaKα with the explicitly computed ones, in the genus computation of Lemma 4 that is used in Remark 5.

Formalization Note: the hypotheses m>0m>0m>0 and α≠αˉ\alpha\ne\bar\alphaα=αˉ are Fact instances; ∣α∣=1|\alpha|=1∣α∣=1 is not assumed.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
