For every n∈N0n \in \mathbb N_0n∈N0 there are constants c1(n),c2(n)>0c_1(n), c_2(n) > 0c1(n),c2(n)>0 such that for all ℓ∈N0\ell \in \mathbb N_0ℓ∈N0 with n≤ℓn \le \elln≤ℓ,

c1(n) ℓ2n≤(ℓ+n)!(ℓ−n)!≤c2(n) ℓ2n.c_1(n)\,\ell^{2n} \le \frac{(\ell+n)!}{(\ell-n)!} \le c_2(n)\,\ell^{2n}.c1(n)ℓ2n≤(ℓ−n)!(ℓ+n)!≤c2(n)ℓ2n.

The ratio (ℓ+n)!/(ℓ−n)!(\ell+n)!/(\ell-n)!(ℓ+n)!/(ℓ−n)! is the squared weighted norm of Pℓ(n)P_\ell^{(n)}Pℓ(n) up to the factor 2/(2ℓ+1)2/(2\ell+1)2/(2ℓ+1); the bound converts the weighted Parseval identity into the polynomial weight ℓ2n\ell^{2n}ℓ2n of the sequence space ℓn\ell_nℓn.

Formalization Note ℓ2n\ell^{2n}ℓ2n is a natural power with 00=10^0 = 100=1, so the case ℓ=n=0\ell = n = 0ℓ=n=0 reads c1≤1≤c2c_1 \le 1 \le c_2c1≤1≤c2. The constants are chosen before ℓ\ellℓ.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
