Let S0,…,Sm−1S_0,\ldots,S_{m-1}S0,…,Sm−1 be nonempty finite point sets in a real vector space, and let Pi=conv⁡(Si)P_i=\operatorname{conv}(S_i)Pi=conv(Si). Fix one core index ccc and distinct listed points u,v∈Scu,v\in S_cu,v∈Sc. Suppose a linear functional f0f_0f0 has equal values at u,vu,vu,v, bounds every point of ScS_cSc from above by that value, and every maximizing listed point lies in [u,v][u,v][u,v]. These finite conditions certify that [u,v][u,v][u,v] is the whole exposed core edge.

For the Minkowski sum R=∑iPiR=\sum_i P_iR=∑iPi, there exist a linear functional fff, listed endpoints ai,bi∈Sia_i,b_i\in S_iai,bi∈Si, and nonnegative scalars ηi\eta_iηi, with ac=ua_c=uac=u, bc=vb_c=vbc=v, ηc=1\eta_c=1ηc=1, such that

f(v−u)=0,bi=ai+ηi(v−u),Pi∩{f=f(ai)}=[ai,bi].f(v-u)=0,\qquad b_i=a_i+\eta_i(v-u),\qquad P_i\cap\{f=f(a_i)\}=[a_i,b_i].f(v−u)=0,bi=ai+ηi(v−u),Pi∩{f=f(ai)}=[ai,bi].

Writing A=∑iaiA=\sum_i a_iA=∑iai and B=∑ibiB=\sum_i b_iB=∑ibi, the endpoints are distinct, fff is bounded above on RRR by f(A)f(A)f(A), and

R∩{f=f(A)}=[A,B],[A,B] is an extreme subset of R.R\cap\{f=f(A)\}=[A,B],\qquad [A,B]\text{ is an extreme subset of }R.R∩{f=f(A)}=[A,B],[A,B] is an extreme subset of R.

Thus there is a genuine exposed edge of the sum whose core components are the specified endpoints u,vu,vu,v. The new functional and all component support segments are conclusions, not supplied certificates. Lower-dimensional factors, point factors, parallel edge directions and redundant listed points are allowed; neither full dimensionality nor simpliciality is assumed.

This supplies the edge-bridge existence step in Minkowski fibre routing. It does not choose a short core path, prove all abstract edges exposed without a supplied exposing functional, discover a decomposition of an unrelated H-polytope, or establish a uniform Hirsch diameter bound.

Formalization Note The result uses only Mathlib sets, convex hulls, segments, linear maps and IsExtreme. A nondegenerate segment that is an extreme subset is precisely the project's ordinary-edge adjacency predicate.

This is its exposed-core-edge forward direction with explicit simultaneous finite-factor supporting data. The quotient/finite-separation and perturbation proof is given in explanation.md and research/GENERIC_MINKOWSKI_EDGE_LIFT.md. It closes the core-edge existence gap recorded in section 3 of research/SIMULTANEOUS_MINKOWSKI_LIFT.md at 634e255ba0b83e31be98437159a4c65b377c7eca. No historical novelty claim.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
