Let σ>0\sigma>0σ>0, s∈(0,1)s\in(0,1)s∈(0,1) and δ∈R\delta\in\mathbb Rδ∈R with σ2<sδ\sigma^2<s\deltaσ2<sδ (the shorting region s>s∗s>s^*s>s∗). Let Φ=Φ(σ,δ,s)\Phi=\Phi(\sigma,\delta,s)Φ=Φ(σ,δ,s) be the closed-form shorting cost (31) and Γ=Γ(σ,δ,s)\Gamma=\Gamma(\sigma,\delta,s)Γ=Γ(σ,δ,s) the closed-form lending yield (32). Then the shorting-cost equation (29) holds on the region:

Φ=(δ+Γ)s−σ21+s.\Phi=\frac{(\delta+\Gamma)s-\sigma^2}{1+s}.Φ=1+s(δ+Γ)s−σ2.

With the previous milestone, this shows that (Φ,Γ)(\Phi,\Gamma)(Φ,Γ) given by (31)–(32) solves the whole system (29)–(30) on the shorting region.

Formalization Note On the region both indicators equal one; the Lean uses the definitions costOne and yieldOne of (31) and (32), whose common guard σ2<sδ\sigma^2<s\deltaσ2<sδ is the hypothesis.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
