For an indexed configuration p=(p1,…,pn)p=(p_1,\dots,p_n)p=(p1,…,pn) of points in the plane with centroid c(p)c(p)c(p) (configCentroid p) and distance values R(p)={∣pi−pj∣:i≠j}R(p)=\{|p_i-p_j|: i\ne j\}R(p)={∣pi−pj∣:i=j}, this module defines three real numbers.

  1. centroidSquaredMass p: M(p)=∑i∣pi−c(p)∣2M(p)=\sum_{i}|p_i-c(p)|^2M(p)=∑i∣pi−c(p)∣2.
  2. distanceAnnulusRadiusSq p:
ρ2(p)=1n(3∑r∈R(p)r2−M(p)).\rho^2(p)=\frac1n\Bigl(3\sum_{r\in R(p)}r^2-M(p)\Bigr).ρ2(p)=n1(3r∈R(p)∑r2−M(p)).
  1. distanceAnnulusRadius p: the real square root ρ(p)=ρ2(p)\rho(p)=\sqrt{\rho^2(p)}ρ(p)=ρ2(p).

For an injective configuration with n≥1n\ge1n≥1 and no four points on a common circle, every ∣pi−c(p)∣2|p_i-c(p)|^2∣pi−c(p)∣2 is at most ρ2(p)\rho^2(p)ρ2(p), and the theorem Esgk.thin_annulus_sq_of_noFourCocircular bounds it from below in terms of the number of distinct distances.

Formalization Note The quantity ρ2(p)\rho^2(p)ρ2(p) is a formula, not a square, and distanceAnnulusRadius applies Real.sqrt, which returns 000 for negative arguments. For n=0n=0n=0 the division by nnn gives 000 in Lean.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
