Let KKK be a number field, ppp a prime and U=∏℘∣pO℘×U = \prod_{\wp \mid p} \mathcal{O}_\wp^\timesU=∏℘∣pO℘× the semilocal units, a Hausdorff topological group. If f,g:Zp→Uf, g : \mathbb{Z}_p \to Uf,g:Zp→U are continuous group homomorphisms (from the additive group of Zp\mathbb{Z}_pZp) with f(1)=g(1)f(1) = g(1)f(1)=g(1), then f=gf = gf=g.

Indeed fff and ggg agree on Z⊂Zp\mathbb{Z} \subset \mathbb{Z}_pZ⊂Zp, which is dense, and the locus where two continuous maps into a Hausdorff space agree is closed.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
