For every γ∈R\gamma\in\mathbb Rγ∈R and every 0<n<10<n<10<n<1, the characterization functions for triopoly and duopoly differ by

g(n;3)−g(n;2)=−ln⁡2+11−n/2−11−n+γn.g(n;3)-g(n;2)=-\ln2+\frac{1}{1-n/2}-\frac{1}{1-n}+\gamma n.g(n;3)−g(n;2)=−ln2+1−n/21−1−n1+γn.

At a zero of g(⋅;2)g(\cdot;2)g(⋅;2), i.e. a duopoly equilibrium whose smaller platform has share nnn, the sign of this difference is the sign of g(n;3)g(n;3)g(n;3), which decides whether triopoly has an equilibrium with an even larger dominant platform.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
