Bounded-track resilience (open sufficient condition for Erdős 624)

Open
Erdos624.bounded_track_resilience

by Ethan Cheung Wang · Oct 25, 2026 · Mathlib 0df444a (Lean v4.33.1)

Open conjecture. For every fixed rrr there is KKK such that for every k≥Kk\ge Kk≥K and every rrr maps g1,…,gr:P(U)→Ug_1,\dots,g_r:\mathcal P(U)\to Ug1,…,gr:P(U)→U with U=Fin 2kU=\mathrm{Fin}\,2^kU=Fin2k, some kkk-set Y⊆UY\subseteq UY⊆U and some u∈Uu\in Uu∈U satisfy gi(A)≠ug_i(A)\ne ugi(A)=u for all iii and all A⊆YA\subseteq YA⊆Y (a common hole).

By the proved theorem Erdos624.erdos_624_of_bounded_track_resilience this implies Erdős Problem 624. Its truth is OPEN; it is not claimed. It fails at r=2,k=3r=2,k=3r=2,k=3 (pair_common_hole_false_k3), which is why only large kkk is asked.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
