For a finite word QQQ of integers and K≥0K\ge0K≥0:

(every open pair (a,b) of Q has ν2(b−a)<K)  ⟺  (the letters of Q are pairwise incongruent mod 2K).\bigl(\text{every open pair }(a,b)\text{ of }Q\text{ has }\nu_2(b-a)<K\bigr)\iff\bigl(\text{the letters of }Q\text{ are pairwise incongruent mod }2^K\bigr).(every open pair (a,b) of Q has ν2(b−a)<K)⟺(the letters of Q are pairwise incongruent mod 2K).

Here (a,b)(a,b)(a,b) is open if aaa precedes bbb and 2b−a,3b−2a∉Q2b-a,3b-2a\notin Q2b−a,3b−2a∈/Q. Consequently no invariant bounding open-pair levels can hold along an exhaustive chain of words (Erdős Problem 195).

Formalization note: treeLt is from Definitions.Def_Erdos195_tree; Safe, bitOne from Definitions.Def_Erdos195_defs; positions are List.idxOf, ν2\nu_2ν2 is padicValInt 2.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
