Let x1,x2x_1, x_2x1,x2 be Q\mathbb{Q}Q-linearly independent, and likewise y1,y2y_1, y_2y1,y2. Suppose that ex1y2e^{x_1y_2}ex1y2 and ex2y2e^{x_2y_2}ex2y2 are algebraic and that

trdeg⁡Q Q[x1,x2,y1,y2,ex1y1,ex2y1]≤1.\operatorname{trdeg}_{\mathbb{Q}}\, \mathbb{Q}[x_1, x_2, y_1, y_2, e^{x_1y_1}, e^{x_2y_1}] \le 1.trdegQQ[x1,x2,y1,y2,ex1y1,ex2y1]≤1.

Then there are ω,ω1∈C\omega, \omega_1 \in \mathbb{C}ω,ω1∈C with ω\omegaω transcendental; Q∈Z[X][Y]Q \in \mathbb{Z}[X][Y]Q∈Z[X][Y], monic in YYY of positive degree ddd, with Q(ω,ω1)=0Q(\omega, \omega_1) = 0Q(ω,ω1)=0 and minimal there: no non-zero A∈Z[X][Y]A \in \mathbb{Z}[X][Y]A∈Z[X][Y] of YYY-degree less than ddd vanishes at (ω,ω1)(\omega, \omega_1)(ω,ω1); and D,Ei,Gj,Hij∈Z[X][Y]D, E_i, G_j, H_{ij} \in \mathbb{Z}[X][Y]D,Ei,Gj,Hij∈Z[X][Y] with D(ω,ω1)≠0D(\omega, \omega_1) \neq 0D(ω,ω1)=0 and xiD=Eix_iD = E_ixiD=Ei, yjD=Gjy_jD = G_jyjD=Gj, exiyjD=Hije^{x_iy_j}D = H_{ij}exiyjD=Hij at (ω,ω1)(\omega, \omega_1)(ω,ω1).

This is the reduction to ω\omegaω on p. 196 of Waldschmidt (1973), and FourExp.trdeg_one_presentation with only ex1y2e^{x_1y_2}ex1y2, ex2y2e^{x_2y_2}ex2y2 assumed algebraic and with ex1y1e^{x_1y_1}ex1y1, ex2y1e^{x_2y_1}ex2y1 joining x1,x2,y1,y2x_1, x_2, y_1, y_2x1,x2,y1,y2 in the transcendence-degree hypothesis; the conclusion is the same. Here ω=x1y2\omega = x_1y_2ω=x1y2, which is transcendental by Hermite–Lindemann, and Transcendence.exists_monic_integral_model_presentation presents all eight numbers at once. The hypotheses never hold together, by DiazModulus.two_algebraically_independent_of_exp_column: this node is a step of its proof by contradiction.

/-- The column data in transcendence degree one, presented over one integral model.

Let `x₁, x₂` and `y₁, y₂` be `ℚ`-linearly independent, with `e^{x₁y₂}` and `e^{x₂y₂}` algebraic,
and suppose that `ℚ[x₁, x₂, y₁, y₂, e^{x₁y₁}, e^{x₂y₁}]` has transcendence degree at most one.
Write `φ(P) = P(ω, ω₁)` for `P ∈ ℤ[X][Y]`. Then there are a transcendental `ω`, a number `ω₁`, a
polynomial `Q ∈ ℤ[X][Y]` monic in `Y` of positive degree with `φ(Q) = 0` and no non-zero
`A ∈ ℤ[X][Y]` of smaller `Y`-degree with `φ(A) = 0`, and polynomials `D, Eᵢ, Gⱼ, Hᵢⱼ` with
`δ = φ(D) ≠ 0`, `xᵢ δ = φ(Eᵢ)`, `yⱼ δ = φ(Gⱼ)` and `e^{xᵢyⱼ} δ = φ(Hᵢⱼ)`.

This is `FourExp.trdeg_one_presentation` with the column hypothesis in place of the four algebraic
exponentials; the conclusion is unchanged. Here `ω = x₁ y₂` works: it is non-zero and `e^ω` is
algebraic, so it is transcendental by Hermite–Lindemann. The exponentials `e^{x₁y₁}`, `e^{x₂y₁}`
are algebraic over `ℚ(ω)` only, so `H₀₀` and `H₁₀` really depend on `X`. -/

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
