Let φ=(1+5)/2\varphi=(1+\sqrt5)/2φ=(1+5)/2 be the golden ratio and let 0<s1≤s2≤φs10<s_1\le s_2\le\varphi s_10<s1≤s2≤φs1. Then

R=1+s2s1+s2≤φ,R=1+\frac{s_2}{s_1+s_2}\le\varphi,R=1+s1+s2s2≤φ,

and R=φR=\varphiR=φ when s2/s1=φs_2/s_1=\varphis2/s1=φ.

So the lower bound of Theorem 4 is largest, equal to the golden ratio, at the edge s2=φs1s_2=\varphi s_1s2=φs1 of the range on which it applies.

Formalization Note The ratio condition s2/s1=φs_2/s_1=\varphis2/s1=φ is written s2=φs1s_2=\varphi s_1s2=φs1, equivalent because s1>0s_1>0s1>0. The golden ratio is Mathlib's Real.goldenRatio.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
