Let ρ~\widetilde\rhoρ be a level-2 pseudo-density on nnn qubits and i≠ji\ne ji=j two qubits, with relaxed value μij\mu_{ij}μij (Definition 12). For the large-edge output ρ=(I−Z⊗Z)/4\rho=(I-Z\otimes Z)/4ρ=(I−Z⊗Z)/4 on two qubits and the QMC term (I−X⊗X−Y⊗Y−Z⊗Z)/4(I-X\otimes X-Y\otimes Y-Z\otimes Z)/4(I−X⊗X−Y⊗Y−Z⊗Z)/4,

Tr⁡[I−X⊗X−Y⊗Y−Z⊗Z4 ρ]=12≥12μij.\operatorname{Tr}\Big[\frac{I-X\otimes X-Y\otimes Y-Z\otimes Z}{4}\,\rho\Big]=\frac12\ge\frac12\mu_{ij}.Tr[4I−X⊗X−Y⊗Y−Z⊗Zρ]=21≥21μij.

This is the per-edge approximation for an edge selected into LLL.

Formalization Note The Lean item formalizes the printed two-qubit identity and the inequality 12≥12μij\frac12\ge\frac12\mu_{ij}21≥21μij for an arbitrary pair of distinct qubits of an nnn-qubit level-2 pseudo-density. Identifying (I−Z⊗Z)/4(I-Z\otimes Z)/4(I−Z⊗Z)/4 as the marginal of Algorithm 4's nnn-qubit output on a large edge belongs to the goal proof.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
