Let m≥1m\ge1m≥1 be an integer and α∈C\alpha\in\mathbb Cα∈C with α≠αˉ\alpha\ne\bar\alphaα=αˉ. Put hα(t)=−t(tm+1)(αtm+αˉ)∈C[t]h_\alpha(t)=-t(t^m+1)(\alpha t^m+\bar\alpha)\in\mathbb C[t]hα(t)=−t(tm+1)(αtm+αˉ)∈C[t] and let Kα=C(t)[W]/(W2−hα(t))K_\alpha=\mathbb C(t)[W]/(W^2-h_\alpha(t))Kα=C(t)[W]/(W2−hα(t)), with www the class of WWW, so that w2=hα(t)w^2=h_\alpha(t)w2=hα(t); this is the function field of the double cover of the ttt-line in equation (7) of the note, written with w=t(tm+1)Yw=t(t^m+1)Yw=t(tm+1)Y. Let ΩKα/C\Omega_{K_\alpha/\mathbb C}ΩKα/C be its module of Kähler differentials, with universal derivation ddd.

For the conjugate parameter, KαˉK_{\bar\alpha}Kαˉ is built in the same way, with coordinate sss and root w′w'w′, where w′2=hαˉ(s)=−s(sm+1)(αˉsm+α)w'^2=h_{\bar\alpha}(s)=-s(s^m+1)(\bar\alpha s^m+\alpha)w′2=hαˉ(s)=−s(sm+1)(αˉsm+α). Since hαˉ(0)=0h_{\bar\alpha}(0)=0hαˉ(0)=0, the point (0,0)(0,0)(0,0) lies on the curve w′2=hαˉ(s)w'^2=h_{\bar\alpha}(s)w′2=hαˉ(s); its local ring O(0,0)′⊂Kαˉ\mathcal O'_{(0,0)}\subset K_{\bar\alpha}O(0,0)′⊂Kαˉ, the localization of C[s][W′]/(W′2−hαˉ)\mathbb C[s][W']/(W'^2-h_{\bar\alpha})C[s][W′]/(W′2−hαˉ) at the maximal ideal of (0,0)(0,0)(0,0), is a valuation ring of KαˉK_{\bar\alpha}Kαˉ. Let Φ ⁣:Kα→Kαˉ\Phi\colon K_\alpha\to K_{\bar\alpha}Φ:Kα→Kαˉ be the ring isomorphism with Φ(t)=1/s\Phi(t)=1/sΦ(t)=1/s and Φ(w)=w′ s−(m+1)\Phi(w)=w'\,s^{-(m+1)}Φ(w)=w′s−(m+1) (the chart at t=∞t=\inftyt=∞); it is C\mathbb CC-linear. The place of KαK_\alphaKα over t=∞t=\inftyt=∞ is defined as the preimage O∞={ξ∈Kα: Φ(ξ)∈O(0,0)′}\mathcal O_\infty=\{\xi\in K_\alpha:\ \Phi(\xi)\in\mathcal O'_{(0,0)}\}O∞={ξ∈Kα: Φ(ξ)∈O(0,0)′}, with Φ\PhiΦ taken as a ring homomorphism.

The statement is that O∞\mathcal O_\inftyO∞ is also the preimage of O(0,0)′\mathcal O'_{(0,0)}O(0,0)′ under Φ\PhiΦ regarded as an isomorphism of C\mathbb CC-algebras:

O∞=Φ−1(O(0,0)′).\mathcal O_\infty=\Phi^{-1}\bigl(\mathcal O'_{(0,0)}\bigr).O∞=Φ−1(O(0,0)′).

This is a bookkeeping step: it presents the place over t=∞t=\inftyt=∞ as a pull-back along an isomorphism of C\mathbb CC-algebras, the form in which regularity of differentials can be transported along Φ\PhiΦ. It is used to show that intrinsic regularity at O∞\mathcal O_\inftyO∞ is regularity at infinity in the explicit sense, in the genus computation for the family's function field (Lemma 4, Remark 5).

Formalization Note: in Lean, O∞\mathcal O_\inftyO∞ is defined as the preimage of a valuation subring along Φ\PhiΦ given as a ring homomorphism, while the statement takes the preimage along Φ\PhiΦ bundled as an isomorphism of C\mathbb CC-algebras, with the same underlying map; the content is that these two presentations agree. The hypotheses m>0m>0m>0 and α≠αˉ\alpha\ne\bar\alphaα=αˉ are Fact instances.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
