This bounds a continuous bilinear form by its coordinate values.

For n∈Nn\in\mathbb Nn∈N and a continuous linear map

A:(Fin⁡(n)→R)→((Fin⁡(n)→R)→R),A:(\operatorname{Fin}(n)\to\mathbb R)\to \bigl((\operatorname{Fin}(n)\to\mathbb R)\to\mathbb R\bigr),A:(Fin(n)→R)→((Fin(n)→R)→R),

one has

∥A∥≤∑p∈Fin⁡(n)∑q∈Fin⁡(n)∣A(ep)(eq)∣,\|A\|\le \sum_{p\in\operatorname{Fin}(n)}\sum_{q\in\operatorname{Fin}(n)} \left|A(e_p)(e_q)\right|,∥A∥≤p∈Fin(n)∑q∈Fin(n)∑∣A(ep)(eq)∣,

where epe_pep and eqe_qeq are standard basis vectors.

This provides a coordinate bound for second derivatives and bilinear terms.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
