Prime ladder step: a prime in for each odd
OpenWeakGoldbach.prime_in_window_4e18_add_twogoldbachnumber-theoryprimes
This is the covering property certified by the Helfgott–Platt prime ladder computation.
For every odd natural number with
there exists a prime with
i.e. the interval contains a prime.
Helfgott and Platt computed an explicit ladder of primes reaching past , each consecutive rung at most apart (rungs are Proth primes where available, certified by Proth's theorem, and general primes otherwise). Taking to be the largest rung at most , the next rung satisfies (since is even and exceeds ), whence
Formalization Note The distance is stated on Nat truncated subtraction; since it agrees with the integer difference.
