Let PPP be an injectively indexed set of nnn planar points in general position, let D(P)D(P)D(P) be its number of distinct distances, and define the natural deficiency σ\sigmaσ by

(n−1)+σ=3D(P),s=σ+1.(n-1)+\sigma=3D(P),\qquad s=\sigma+1.(n−1)+σ=3D(P),s=σ+1.

There are absolute positive integers T,CT,CT,C and a threshold NNN such that, whenever n≥Nn\ge Nn≥N, at least one of the following holds:

  1. n≤3sn\le3sn≤3s;
  2. n≤s2n\le s^2n≤s2;
  3. n≤sn\le sn≤s;
  4. n2<128Ts7n^2<128T s^7n2<128Ts7;
  5. n≤32Cs5n\le32C s^5n≤32Cs5.

The same T,C,NT,C,NT,C,N work for every qualifying configuration. These are the exact circle, nonabsolute, small-deficiency, threshold-failure, and threshold-success branches of the distance--Newton bootstrap.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
