Let r>0r>0r>0, λ>0\lambda>0λ>0 with λr<34\lambda r<\tfrac34λr<43, and let CBC_BCB be any real number. With T1=34T_1=\tfrac34T1=43, T2=45π2(32+15π)T_2=\frac{45\pi}{2(32+15\pi)}T2=2(32+15π)45π, C1=CD=98C_1=C_D=\tfrac98C1=CD=89 and C2=CBC_2=C_BC2=CB, put

fA(a)=a2C12T1(T1−a)−12−a2C2T2(T2−a)−a3.f_A(a)=\frac{a^2C_1}{2T_1(T_1-a)}-\frac12-\frac{a^2C_2}{T_2(T_2-a)}-\frac a3 .fA(a)=2T1(T1−a)a2C1−21−T2(T2−a)a2C2−3a.

Then

WD(λ,μD,CD)−WB(λ,μB,CB)=fA(λr)λ.W_D(\lambda,\mu_D,C_D)-W_B(\lambda,\mu_B,C_B)=\frac{f_A(\lambda r)}{\lambda}.WD(λ,μD,CD)−WB(λ,μB,CB)=λfA(λr).

The difference of the two expected waits depends on (λ,r)(\lambda,r)(λ,r) only through the product a=λra=\lambda ra=λr, up to the positive factor 1/λ1/\lambda1/λ. This reduces both threshold results to a sign analysis of one rational function of one variable.

Formalization Note lam is λ\lambdaλ. The paper's f(a)f(a)f(a) in (A.1) is fA(a)/λf_A(a)/\lambdafA(a)/λ, and its C2=0.583C_2=0.583C2=0.583 is here the parameter CBC_BCB; the identity holds for every real CBC_BCB. The hypothesis λr<3/4\lambda r<3/4λr<3/4 keeps both waits inside their stability ranges.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
