Let CCC be a ddd-dimensional good simplicial complex over a vertex set VVV and let r:V→[d+1]r : V \to [d+1]r:V→[d+1] be a proper coloring of CCC. Then the class

B(C,r)={(v1,…,vd+1)∈Vd+1:{v1,…,vd+1}∈C, r(vi)=i for all i}B(C, r) = \big\{(v_1, \dots, v_{d+1}) \in V^{d+1} : \{v_1,\dots,v_{d+1}\} \in C,\ r(v_i) = i \text{ for all } i\big\}B(C,r)={(v1,…,vd+1)∈Vd+1:{v1,…,vd+1}∈C, r(vi)=i for all i}

is a (d+1)(d+1)(d+1)-dimensional pseudo-cube.

This is the first half of the equivalence between pseudo-cubes and good complexes: properties of complexes (finiteness, replacement) become the defining properties of a pseudo-cube (finiteness, neighbours in every direction).

Formalization Note The statement is about the explicit class B(C,r)B(C,r)B(C,r) the proof constructs (the paper's Remark after Proposition 42). Replacement is the version with a new vertex u∉fu \notin fu∈/f; see the definitions item.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
