Let u∈Cu \in \mathbb{C}u∈C be transcendental, that is, u∉Q‾u \notin \overline{\mathbb{Q}}u∈/Q (the algebraic numbers); spans and linear independence are over Q‾\overline{\mathbb{Q}}Q. Let W⊆CW \subseteq \mathbb{C}W⊆C be a Q‾\overline{\mathbb{Q}}Q-vector subspace of dimension 555 with 1,u,u−1∈W1, u, u^{-1} \in W1,u,u−1∈W, that is, H0⊆WH_0 \subseteq WH0⊆W for H0=span(1,u,u−1)H_0 = \mathrm{span}(1, u, u^{-1})H0=span(1,u,u−1). Let x0,x1∈Cx_0, x_1 \in \mathbb{C}x0,x1∈C be linearly independent and y0,y1,y2∈Cy_0, y_1, y_2 \in \mathbb{C}y0,y1,y2∈C linearly independent, with xiyj∈Wx_iy_j \in Wxiyj∈W for all i,ji, ji,j (a 2×32 \times 32×3 configuration in WWW). Let p,q∈Q‾[X]p, q \in \overline{\mathbb{Q}}[X]p,q∈Q[X] be coprime with max⁡(deg⁡p,deg⁡q)=2\max(\deg p, \deg q) = 2max(degp,degq)=2, and suppose x1q(u)=x0p(u)x_1q(u) = x_0p(u)x1q(u)=x0p(u), so that the ratio x1/x0x_1/x_0x1/x0 is h=p(u)/q(u)h = p(u)/q(u)h=p(u)/q(u). Then:

  • for every f∈Cf \in \mathbb{C}f∈C, f∈Wf \in Wf∈W and hf∈Whf \in Whf∈W if and only if f∈span(x0y0,x0y1,x0y2)f \in \mathrm{span}(x_0y_0, x_0y_1, x_0y_2)f∈span(x0y0,x0y1,x0y2);
  • W∩h−1W={f∈W:hf∈W}W \cap h^{-1}W = \{f \in W : hf \in W\}W∩h−1W={f∈W:hf∈W} has dimension 333.

This is the setting of Theorem NF (DiazModulus.degree_two_configuration_normal_form), and the conclusion is the uniqueness of the configuration with ratio hhh: the span of the products x0yjx_0y_jx0yj is W∩h−1WW \cap h^{-1}WW∩h−1W, which depends only on WWW and hhh.

Proof. Coprimality and degree give q≠0q \neq 0q=0, so q(u)≠0q(u) \neq 0q(u)=0 and h=p(u)/q(u)=x1/x0h = p(u)/q(u) = x_1/x_0h=p(u)/q(u)=x1/x0. Write Z={f∈W:hf∈W}Z = \{f \in W : hf \in W\}Z={f∈W:hf∈W}, yj′=x0yjy'_j = x_0y_jyj′=x0yj, J=p′q−pq′J = p'q - pq'J=p′q−pq′ and gλ(α,β)=q(u)(αq(u)+βJ(u))/(u(p(u)−λq(u)))g_\lambda(\alpha, \beta) = q(u)(\alpha q(u) + \beta J(u))/(u(p(u) - \lambda q(u)))gλ(α,β)=q(u)(αq(u)+βJ(u))/(u(p(u)−λq(u))). The family y′y'y′ is independent (x0≠0x_0 \neq 0x0=0), yj′∈Wy'_j \in Wyj′∈W and hyj′=x1yj∈Why'_j = x_1y_j \in Whyj′=x1yj∈W, so span(y′)⊆Z\mathrm{span}(y') \subseteq Zspan(y′)⊆Z. Step 1 (as in DiazModulus.degree_two_configuration_multiplier_complement, 10.134): some λ∈{0,1,2}\lambda \in \{0, 1, 2\}λ∈{0,1,2} admits no (α,β)≠(0,0)(\alpha, \beta) \neq (0, 0)(α,β)=(0,0) with gλ(α,β)∈Wg_\lambda(\alpha, \beta) \in Wgλ(α,β)∈W, since otherwise DiazModulus.quadratic_ratio_pole_fractions_independent would put six independent vectors in the five-dimensional WWW. Put E=p(u)−λq(u)≠0E = p(u) - \lambda q(u) \neq 0E=p(u)−λq(u)=0, k0=q(u)/Ek_0 = q(u)/Ek0=q(u)/E and N′={g∈W:k0g∈W}N' = \{g \in W : k_0g \in W\}N′={g∈W:k0g∈W}. Step 2: if f∈H0f \in H_0f∈H0 and k0f∈Wk_0f \in Wk0f∈W, write uf=c+au+bu2=a′q(u)+b′p(u)+c′J(u)uf = c + au + bu^2 = a'q(u) + b'p(u) + c'J(u)uf=c+au+bu2=a′q(u)+b′p(u)+c′J(u) by DiazModulus.quadratic_pencil_wronskian_span; then k0f−b′q(u)/u=gλ(a′+λb′,c′)∈Wk_0f - b'q(u)/u = g_\lambda(a' + \lambda b', c') \in Wk0f−b′q(u)/u=gλ(a′+λb′,c′)∈W, so a′+λb′=c′=0a' + \lambda b' = c' = 0a′+λb′=c′=0 and f=b′E/uf = b'E/uf=b′E/u. So N′∩H0⊆Q‾E/uN' \cap H_0 \subseteq \overline{\mathbb{Q}} E/uN′∩H0⊆QE/u, and as dim⁡(N′+H0)≤5\dim(N' + H_0) \leq 5dim(N′+H0)≤5 and dim⁡H0=3\dim H_0 = 3dimH0=3, dim⁡N′≤5+1−3=3\dim N' \leq 5 + 1 - 3 = 3dimN′≤5+1−3=3. Step 3: V=(E/q(u))span(y′)=(h−λ)span(y′)V = (E/q(u))\mathrm{span}(y') = (h - \lambda)\mathrm{span}(y')V=(E/q(u))span(y′)=(h−λ)span(y′) has dimension 333 and lies in N′N'N′ (for g∈Zg \in Zg∈Z, (h−λ)g=hg−λg∈W(h - \lambda)g = hg - \lambda g \in W(h−λ)g=hg−λg∈W and k0(h−λ)g=g∈Wk_0(h - \lambda)g = g \in Wk0(h−λ)g=g∈W), so V=N′V = N'V=N′. For f∈Zf \in Zf∈Z, (h−λ)f∈N′=V(h - \lambda)f \in N' = V(h−λ)f∈N′=V, and cancelling h−λ≠0h - \lambda \neq 0h−λ=0 gives f∈span(y′)f \in \mathrm{span}(y')f∈span(y′). So Z=span(y′)Z = \mathrm{span}(y')Z=span(y′), of dimension 333.

Novelty. Not found in the sources read; routine. It adds what the formal statement of Theorem NF (DiazModulus.degree_two_configuration_normal_form, 10.138) leaves out: the span of the products x0yjx_0y_jx0yj depends only on WWW and hhh. The proof is that of DiazModulus.degree_two_configuration_multiplier_complement (10.134), run on all of W∩k0−1WW \cap k_0^{-1}WW∩k0−1W.

Not found in the sources read. It adds what the formal statement of Theorem NF (DiazModulus.degree_two_configuration_normal_form, 10.138) leaves out: the span of the products depends only on W and h. The proof re-runs Steps 1–3 of the sheaf-free proof of Theorem NF (DiazModulus.degree_two_configuration_multiplier_complement, 10.134) on all of W ∩ k₀⁻¹W. Uses DiazModulus.quadratic_pencil_wronskian_span and DiazModulus.quadratic_ratio_pole_fractions_independent. R21a of the Diaz modulus mission. Formal proof: Diaz modulus mission, 23 October 2026 (C.
