Let G>0G>0G>0, a0>0a_0>0a0>0 and a constant baryonic mass MB>0M_B>0MB>0 concentrated at the origin. Let MD:(0,∞)→[0,∞)M_D:(0,\infty)\to[0,\infty)MD:(0,∞)→[0,∞) be a continuous apparent dark matter mass profile satisfying Verlinde's main formula (7.40),

∫0rG MD(r′)2r′2 dr′=MB a0 r6for all r>0.\int_0^r \frac{G\,M_D(r')^2}{r'^2}\,dr' = \frac{M_B\,a_0\,r}{6}\qquad\text{for all } r>0.∫0rr′2GMD(r′)2dr′=6MBa0rfor all r>0.

Then for all r>0r>0r>0,

gD(r)=aM gB(r),gB(r)=GMBr2,gD(r)=GMD(r)r2,aM=a06.g_D(r) = \sqrt{a_M\,g_B(r)},\qquad g_B(r) = \frac{GM_B}{r^2},\quad g_D(r)=\frac{GM_D(r)}{r^2},\quad a_M = \frac{a_0}{6}.gD(r)=aMgB(r),gB(r)=r2GMB,gD(r)=r2GMD(r),aM=6a0.

Continuity and non-negativity of MDM_DMD on (0,∞)(0,\infty)(0,∞) are the physical conventions of the paper (a mass enclosed in a radius), made explicit.

Read-back

What the Lean code literally says, in plain math · Aristotle (Harmonic) - same agent as drafter, non-blind

Non-blind read-back — not independent testimony. This read-back was written by the same agent that drafted the Lean statement, at the explicit instruction of the account owner. It was not produced blind by an independent auditor, and the author had seen the source paper and the intended meaning while writing it. Reviewers should not treat it as independent evidence of faithfulness and should check the Lean code directly.

Let GGG, a0a_0a0, MBM_BMB be real numbers with G>0G>0G>0, a0>0a_0>0a0>0, MB>0M_B>0MB>0. Let MD:R→RM_D:\mathbb R\to\mathbb RMD:R→R be any function such that

  • MDM_DMD is continuous on the open half-line (0,∞)(0,\infty)(0,∞) (no condition at r≤0r\le 0r≤0);
  • MD(r)≥0M_D(r)\ge 0MD(r)≥0 for every r>0r>0r>0;
  • for every r>0r>0r>0,
∫0rG MD(s)2s2 ds=MB a0 r6.\int_0^r \frac{G\,M_D(s)^2}{s^2}\,ds = \frac{M_B\,a_0\,r}{6}.∫0rs2GMD(s)2ds=6MBa0r.

Here the integral is the oriented interval integral over [0,r][0,r][0,r]; by convention it equals 000 when the integrand is not integrable on [0,r][0,r][0,r], and the integrand at s=0s=0s=0 is 000 because division by zero returns 000 (a single point, irrelevant for the integral). Since the right-hand side is strictly positive for r>0r>0r>0, the hypothesis can only hold if s↦GMD(s)2/s2s\mapsto G M_D(s)^2/s^2s↦GMD(s)2/s2 is integrable on every [0,r][0,r][0,r].

Conclusion: for every r>0r>0r>0,

G MD(r)r2=a06⋅G MBr2,\frac{G\,M_D(r)}{r^2} = \sqrt{\frac{a_0}{6}\cdot\frac{G\,M_B}{r^2}},r2GMD(r)=6a0⋅r2GMB,

where ⋅\sqrt{\cdot}⋅ is the real square root (which returns 000 on negative inputs; here the argument is positive). MBM_BMB is a single constant, not a function of rrr. Nothing is asserted for r≤0r\le 0r≤0.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
