Let K4=Frac⁡(C[X,Y]/(X4+Y4−2))K_4=\operatorname{Frac}\bigl(\mathbb C[X,Y]/(X^4+Y^4-2)\bigr)K4=Frac(C[X,Y]/(X4+Y4−2)) be the function field of the complex affine curve X4+Y4=2X^4+Y^4=2X4+Y4=2. In the coordinates X=zX=zX=z, Y=zˉY=\bar zY=zˉ the real curve Re⁡(z4)=1\operatorname{Re}(z^4)=1Re(z4)=1 reads X4+Y4=2X^4+Y^4=2X4+Y4=2, so K4K_4K4 is the function field of its complexification.

For a field L⊇CL\supseteq\mathbb CL⊇C, a place of LLL is a valuation ring O\mathcal OO of LLL with C⊆O≠L\mathbb C\subseteq\mathcal O\ne LC⊆O=L. A Kähler differential ω∈ΩL/C\omega\in\Omega_{L/\mathbb C}ω∈ΩL/C is regular at O\mathcal OO if it is a C\mathbb CC-linear combination of differentials u dvu\,dvudv with u,v∈Ou,v\in\mathcal Ou,v∈O, and holomorphic if it is regular at every place. The genus g(L)g(L)g(L) is the dimension over C\mathbb CC of the space of holomorphic differentials of LLL.

Then

g(K4)=3.g(K_4)=3.g(K4)=3.

This is the genus three in Remark 5 of the note: the normalization of the complexified curve Re⁡(z4)=1\operatorname{Re}(z^4)=1Re(z4)=1, read as its function field, has genus three, while the curves of the m=2m=2m=2 family have genus two.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
