This proves translation invariance of the covariance relaxation.

Let VVV be a complete real inner-product space with its Borel measurable structure, let ν\nuν be a probability measure on VVV, let c∈Vc\in Vc∈V, and let f∈L2(τc#ν)f\in L^2(\tau_c\#\nu)f∈L2(τc#ν), where τc(x)=c+x\tau_c(x)=c+xτc(x)=c+x. Then

relaxation⁡(τc#ν)(f)=relaxation⁡(ν)(τc∗f),\operatorname{relaxation}(\tau_c\#\nu)(f) = \operatorname{relaxation}(\nu)(\tau_c^*f),relaxation(τc#ν)(f)=relaxation(ν)(τc∗f),

where τc∗\tau_c^*τc∗ is the pullback isometry represented by L2.Translation.pullbackEquiv ν c.

The result formalizes independence of the covariance relaxation from the choice of affine origin.

Formalization Note No finite-dimensionality or second-countability assumption is required by the declaration.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
