Compressed phase queries act on the queried oracle register only

linear-algebraquantum-computing

Fix the query input xxx, the Fourier-basis query output zzz, and a workspace basis label www. Let CCC be the compression unitary on one oracle cell, and let DzD_zDz be diagonal with value 111 at ⊥\bot⊥ and value (−1)z⋅v(-1)^{z\cdot v}(−1)z⋅v at a stored bit string vvv.

The full compressed phase oracle leaves x,z,wx,z,wx,z,w and every oracle cell other than xxx unchanged, and applies CDzCC D_z CCDzC to cell xxx. More precisely, for every vector ψ\psiψ and every oracle configuration yyy,

(Φψ)(x,z,w,y)=∑o∈Σ∪{⊥}(CDzC)yx,o ψ(x,z,w,y[x←o]).(\Phi\psi)(x,z,w,y)=\sum_{o\in\Sigma\cup\{\bot\}}(C D_z C)_{y_x,o}\,\psi(x,z,w,y[x\leftarrow o]).(Φψ)(x,z,w,y)=o∈Σ∪{⊥}∑(CDzC)yx,oψ(x,z,w,y[x←o]).

No normalization assumption on ψ\psiψ is needed. This is the local form of equation (26.29), used in the calculations (26.33)–(26.39) for Fact 26.2. It isolates cancellation of the unqueried compression factors and Fourier diagonalization of the lookup operation.

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
