Let x∈Rx \in \mathbb{R}x∈R be a real number and rrr an element of the coefficient ring XCoeff=MvPolynomial(Fin 1,R)\mathrm{XCoeff} = \mathrm{MvPolynomial}(\mathrm{Fin}\,1, \mathbb{R})XCoeff=MvPolynomial(Fin1,R). Then evaluating the transported univariate polynomial at xxx agrees with the coefficient evaluation homomorphism:

eval(x,XCoeffEquiv(r))=coeffEval(x,r).\mathrm{eval}(x, \mathrm{XCoeffEquiv}(r)) = \mathrm{coeffEval}(x, r).eval(x,XCoeffEquiv(r))=coeffEval(x,r).

Here XCoeffEquiv is the ring isomorphism between XCoeff\mathrm{XCoeff}XCoeff and Polynomial(R)\mathrm{Polynomial}(\mathbb{R})Polynomial(R). This bridge lemma lets proofs move freely between the multivariate-coefficient view (needed for currying/specialization) and the ordinary univariate-polynomial view (needed for root and degree bounds).

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
