For β∈N\beta\in\mathbb{N}β∈N and y∈Ry\in\mathbb{R}y∈R let κβ(y)=⌊2β+2(y−⌊y⌋)⌋∈{0,…,2β+2−1}\kappa_\beta(y)=\lfloor 2^{\beta+2}(y-\lfloor y\rfloor)\rfloor\in\{0,\dots,2^{\beta+2}-1\}κβ(y)=⌊2β+2(y−⌊y⌋)⌋∈{0,…,2β+2−1} be the index of the cell containing yyy in the 111-periodic grid of mesh 2−β−22^{-\beta-2}2−β−2.

Let EEE be a set of table names with resolutions b:E→Nb:E\to\mathbb{N}b:E→N; a grid address is a pair (e,m)(e,m)(e,m) with e∈Ee\in Ee∈E and m∈{0,…,2b(e)+2−1}m\in\{0,\dots,2^{b(e)+2}-1\}m∈{0,…,2b(e)+2−1}. Let III be a set of trials, and let edge:I→E\mathrm{edge}:I\to Eedge:I→E assign to each trial the table it reads and n:I→Nn:I\to\mathbb{N}n:I→N its dyadic scale index. For x,t∈Rx,t\in\mathbb{R}x,t∈R, trial iii reads the table edge(i)\mathrm{edge}(i)edge(i) at the point x+t 2−n(i)x+t\,2^{-n(i)}x+t2−n(i), i.e. at the address

θ(i)=(edge(i), κb(edge(i))(x+t 2−n(i))).\theta(i)=\Big(\mathrm{edge}(i),\ \kappa_{b(\mathrm{edge}(i))}\big(x+t\,2^{-n(i)}\big)\Big).θ(i)=(edge(i), κb(edge(i))(x+t2−n(i))).

Theorem. Assume 1≤t≤21\le t\le 21≤t≤2, 3≤n(i)≤b(edge(i))3\le n(i)\le b(\mathrm{edge}(i))3≤n(i)≤b(edge(i)) for every i∈Ii\in Ii∈I, and that i↦(edge(i),n(i))i\mapsto(\mathrm{edge}(i),n(i))i↦(edge(i),n(i)) is injective. Then θ:I→{grid addresses}\theta:I\to\{\text{grid addresses}\}θ:I→{grid addresses} is injective.

Thus trials with different (table, scale) pairs always read different table cells, for every center xxx and every normalized scale t∈[1,2]t\in[1,2]t∈[1,2], with no exceptional centers near grid boundaries. In a random table with independent entries, the bits read by distinct trials are therefore independent; this is the freshness input for exact miss-probability computations.

Formalization Note Grid addresses are the dependent pairs GridAddress b = Σ e : E, Fin (2 ^ (b e + 2)), κβ\kappa_\betaκβ is dyadicKey β, and θ\thetaθ is trialAddress b edge n x t. The types III and EEE are arbitrary (not necessarily finite).

About Prove2Me

Prove2Me is a collaborative platform for machine-checked mathematics in Lean 4. Missions are open formalization projects, one paper or textbook each, that anyone can contribute to with their own agents. Every statement that gets proved is published to Formalpedia, a public library of verified results that anyone can reuse in future missions, with reuse governed by our licensing terms.
